Job Summary:

Design and manage compensation and benefits programs. Communicate with employees, consultants, vendors, legal advisors, and administrators regarding policies, plan designs, and enrollment procedures. Provide strategic recommendations with regards to cost controls. Participate in the research, analysis, development, and implementation of employee benefit and compensation programs that are designed to maintain BC’s strategic objectives and competitive position in the market.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide guidance and strategy around total reward topics and industry trends; work on projects for departmental review
  • Provide consultancy on global and local compensation and benefit programs, processes and policies. Co-ordinate annual global compensation processes for the Americas region
  • Review current reward topics and provide a plan of executing a streamline approach for the region.  Evaluate local mechanics and customs of providing competitive reward packages
  • Align with global HR’s total reward framework and work on the execution of new initiatives within the Americas region
  • Work with vendors and consultants on reviewing industry trends and determining what would be best based on company culture. Find and deliver efficiencies to provide a better customer experience for internal stakeholders
  • Provide cost analyses for any project linked to Compensation or Benefits (e.g.. M&A, acquisition, department re-alignment
  • Work with Global Mobility Manager in reviewing compensation and benefit programs for expatriates/local assignees
  • Reviews and checks weekly and bi-weekly payroll files for audit purposes
  • Compensation –
    • Evaluate job descriptions in order to maintain salary band structure and pricing roles given internal and external data
    • Coordinate and administer annual salary increase (hourly and salary) process for all countries within the region
    • Coordinate and calculate bonus targets for all bonus eligible employees; ensure bonus structures are uploaded into the performance management system
    • Understand local compensation practices in each country of the region
    • Provide salary recommendations for new hire and promotion offers
    • Coordinate and participate in salary surveys
    • Administer equity grant process for Americas
  • Benefits
    • Understand benefit provision across the region to ensure that our total reward packages are compliant, cost effective, consistent and competitive and are being administered accurately, compliantly and equitably. Investigate requests for changes and make recommendations based on design principles, market practice, cost etc.
    • US Benefits:  Watch market trends and provide recommendations regarding health and wellness in line with global BC benefits strategy
    • Making benefit decisions to determining renewal strategy for Annual Enrollment
    • Manage ongoing relationships with external consultants and suppliers (brokers, insurance carriers, other benefit providers) to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
    • Serve as fiduciary for all retirement plans:  Union 401(k), Non-union 401(k), and frozen defined benefits plan.  Manage compliance and communication of programs.  Drive ongoing analysis, best practices and cost competitiveness of benefit.
    • Other Countries within Region:  Work with local Country HRBPs to review benefit programs and ensure appropriate benefits are being offered to be competitive in the market while maintaining costs in line with global BC benefits strategy

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related
  • Compensation and/or benefit certification a plus (CCP, CEBS)

 

Work Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in Human Resources with a concentration in Compensation and Benefits

 

Additional Requirements & Competencies:

  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • HRIS experience in SuccessFactors and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills with experience to interface effectively with all stakeholders (employees, leadership team, vendors, consultants, and legal advisors)
  • Demonstrates a strong customer support orientation and displays the highest levels of integrity and respect for sensitivity and confidentiality
  • Previous experience managing a team including employee coaching and developing
  • Strong project management and organization skills essential
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor on technical reward projects
  • Experience working in an international environment required with experience communicating cross-culturally
