This is managerial and professional work engaged in assuring that the City's total rewards and classification and compensation programs are administered within City policies, bargaining agreements and governmental regulations and are used effectively to attract, motivate and retain employees.
    
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing cost-effective and competitive classification and compensation programs in order to be responsive to the organization's goals and competitive pay practices. You must have the ability to manage multiple tasks, handle sensitive information, make sound business decisions, influence business leaders, manage details, and deliver results on a company-wide scale.

Requirements

To qualify for this position you must possess a:  Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible professional level experience in classification and compensation utilizing an electronic Human Resources Information System (HRIS) 

or  An Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field, and seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional level experience in classification and compensation utilizing an electronic Human Resources Information System (HRIS) 

A Certified Compensation Professional certification may substitute for an Associate degree or two (2) additional years of progressively responsible experience in classification and compensation.

Minimum of two (2) years leading, supervising, or managing subordinate team members required.

Masters degree and experience working in a union environment at a public utility and/or municipality is preferred.
