Role:

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, and located at the Headquarters in the Landover, MD office. this position will be responsible for improving the productivity of the organizations employees.  This position assesses company wide development needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees.  This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to education, enhance performance and recognize performance.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment.
  • Creates training and development programs and objectives.
  • Formulates teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, workshops and online.
  • Obtains and/or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Develops and conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as onboarding, on-the-job, annual, and refresher compliance and safety training, etc.
  • Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works. 
  • Identifies internal subject matter experts and conducts train the trainer program.
  • Trains and coach’s managers, supervisors and others in employee development efforts.
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates and orders supplies for employee development and training events.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Conducts follow up studies of all completed training and evaluate and measure results.
  • Modifies programs as needed.
  • Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training
  • Reports on progress of training programs and employee completion.
  • Maintains employee/trainee personal records (files and online)
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff
  • HR projects as assigned 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, Education or another complementary field
  • Minimum 3 + years’ experience in training and development, or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience with e-learning development tools
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Computer literate, minimum of intermediate level skill using MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to quickly learn technology and systems applications.
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or other training certification preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
