Position Overview

The Training and Development Specialist engages a diverse variety of people in learning situations, applying adult learning theory in developing multifaceted modern learning solutions such as instructor-led training and online educational programs.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Develops training materials, guides, and presentations
  • Evaluates existing training materials and methods to identify potential for improvement
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and the management of the organization to research future needs; completes training needs analysis (TNA)
  • Hands-on training of learners
  • Designs, orchestrates, and implements training programs for employees or clientele to help improve skills
  • Determines specific educational needs by interviewing or surveying a sample of people from target population 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Human Resources, Business, Leadership, Organization Development or related field required
  • 5 years professional-level needs analysis, training design, facilitation experience (instructor-led, virtual, or other training events), and e-learning course development experience
  • E-learning development and publishing experience (Adobe Creative Suite, Captivate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator)
  • Experience with talent management systems, learning management systems, or similar HRIS applications; experience with Cornerstone a plus
  • Ability to create or modify visual assets including clip art, digital photographs, video, audio, and graphic animations
  • Experience with creating instructor-led materials
  • Knowledge of training theories and principles, adult learning theory, and/or established industry models of evaluation
  • Instructional design and training delivery experience to include writing and developing training
  • Excellent scripting and storytelling skills; strong written and verbal communication skills with refined editing skills (content, grammar, syntax)
  • Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to translate business insight to audience need
  • Proven track record of using data to measure the effectiveness of initiatives, identify insights, and make recommendations for updates/improvement

  • ADDIE Certification
  • Instructional Design Certification
  • Learning Management System (LMS- Cornerstone On Demand)
