The National Urban League is partnering with a financial services organization in the mortgage industry to increase the number of professionals of color. The League seeks a University Relations Specialist to plan logistics for the Future Housing Leaders (Internship) Program in fall 2018 on 10 campuses. The Specialist will contact campuses, reserve space and under direction, plan and execute the logistics for events on each campus.

Essential Functions:

  • Support build and maintain relationships at key schools and with students to help achieve FHL's recruiting strategies and hiring targets.
  • Be responsible for managing internal and external relationships with target universities, key faculty, professors, administration and student organizations, as well as with key stakeholders.
  • Support project management and execution of the University Relations strategy for relationship development with schools.
  • Create digital and print promotional material, selecting venues, organizing catering, ordering promotional trinkets thus ensuring successful outreach and networking events.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of high-quality candidates.
  • Attend events and presentations at schools, either with or without a subject matter expert co-presenting to increase brand awareness and the application rates.
  • Educate students, administration and faculty on the Future Housing Leaders Program at events.
  • Manage projects for utilizing feedback from each event to implement process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • In lieu of degree, 4+ years of professional experience is required.


  • 2-5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Diversity recruitment experience
  • University relations/campus recruitment for internships and full-time hires

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Able to travel up to 75% during Fall & Winter recruiting cycles (East Coast).
  • Campus marketing and event management
  • Project management
  • Recruiting report development and metrics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
