Position Summary:

The Vice President of Human Resources will report directly to the President and CEO and will be based at New World Van Lines headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. The leader is responsible for leading all aspects of Human Resources including the day-to-day management of the department, human capital planning, workforce relations, associate development and training, morale and retention, recruiting, compliance, employee complaints and investigations, and enforcing company policies.

Primary Duties:

  • Develop, communicate and interpret policies
  • Provide expert advice, counsel and coaching skills to management to facilitate the prevention and resolution of employee relations issues
  • Drive innovative programs and policies that enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organizations; including senior and executive leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Capability to work with ambiguity and use own judgment
  • Exceptional knowledge of principles and practices of human resources to deliver HR best practices
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable State and Federal employment laws
  • Strong intellectual capacity with strong strategic skills
  • Develop, propose and implement relevant new HR policies and procedures
  • Direct overall employee relations initiatives that improve employee morale and satisfaction
  • Establish creditability throughout the organization as an experienced and professional leader who is a team player
  • Supervise, train and motivate HR/Safety department personnel through proper delegation, coaching and leadership
  • Lead and work with appropriate internal staff on the administration of the 401K plan
  • Other duties/projects assigned by the President


  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated success building and managing highly effective HR teams
  • Direct experience developing and delivering effective training programs
  • Experience managing employee and compliance related investigations
  • Strong communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with associates and external parties at all levels of the organization
  • Strong understanding of HR laws, regulations and compliance matters, including in CA
  • Highly motivated
  • Highly organized and effective in establishing priorities
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to advocate, collaborate, and influence leaders across the enterprise
