Job Details

Mutual of Omaha is looking for a senior leader to provide oversight of the Human Resource functions related to Compensation and HR Systems to support the achievement of business objectives.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Plan, organize, staff, lead and manage activities pertaining to Human Resources including all functions and managerial oversight for: Budgeting and management of expenses; interviewing and selection of staff; setting staff expectations and appraising performance; administering compensation; development and coaching; long and short term planning; and, ensuring compliance with human resource related laws and regulations.
  • Ensures the effective implementation, administration and continuous enhancement of Compensation and HR technology initiatives and programs. Advises and influences key business leadership on strategic human capital matters within these areas while collaborating and consulting with other Human Resource departments and/or enterprise business partners to ensure alignment of programs and initiatives.
  • Oversees total compensation strategy development, program design and administration to support competitive, strategically-aligned and equitable total rewards and recognition programs.
  • Oversees HR systems by partnering with I/S to establish the HR technology strategy, determining appropriate technology investments, identifying system requirements and coordinating implementation throughout HR and the Company.
  • Works closely with the Executive Leadership, Finance, and Mutual of Omaha Compensation and Evaluation Committee on the Corporate Incentive and Executive reward programs. Coordinates with the Board's Compensation Consultant on committee requests.
  • Responsible for the Compensation Risk Assessment for the enterprise (non-sales plans) and participates in the design of the enterprise sales incentive plans.
  • Remains current on human resource legislative activity that may impact Company programs/initiatives. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to human resources to include process improvement and innovative approaches to human capital management.
  • This position requires sitting over 66% of the time.
  • This position requires Visual Acuity at 20 inches (or less) over 66% of the time.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Strong management, human relations, communication and cost benefit analysis skills.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational and problem solving abilities. Sound business judgment.
  • Working knowledge of the Corporate organization and operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in a large HR environment.
  • Excellent background in all HR disciplines.
  • Broad knowledge of the financial industry with detailed knowledge of human resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Senior-level compensation experience
  • Incentive plan design experience
  • Compensation plan design experience
  • Experience working closely with Executive Leadership and/or the Board of Directors
  • CCP and or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification
